Healthy Habits = Long-Term Success - Diet-Today

Healthy Habits = Long-Term Success

Healthy Habits: best weight-loss formula

The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to form Healthy Habits. Discovering new healthy habits, or picking up good habits you’ve lost over the years, will produce the best long-term weight loss success. The diet programs we believe will help you the most are the ones that help you form good habits. These habits help you learn to make conscious decisions in any scenario where you find yourself – especially in circumstances where you are highly vulnerable. We believe the best diets, for your long-term success, are ones help:

  • Identify your weaknesses
  • Determine ways to combat temptation (whether its consuming foods or being too sedentary)
  • Encourage your successes, or provide a help/support line

NO EXCUSES!

Weight loss is a decision, and action you must undertake. All the help and knowledge to lose weight can be given to you, even spoon-fed, but you must be the one to take action. You are in charge of your own life and future – nobody else.

Forming Healthy Habits – Lifestyle Changes

Changing your lifestyle to lose weight is more than just losing weight. It is about focusing on breaking bad habits and creating new habits. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to:

Eat Less, Move More

Healthy Habits - 5w's of weight loss

To accomplish the “Eat Less, Move More” tasks, you should follow the 5 W’s of Weight loss:

  • Who
  • What
  • Where
  • When
  • Why

These topics will be discussed further, and more in-depth, as a part of their own blog post later. For now, we’ll cover the basics and how the diet’s we recommend include many, if not all of the 5 W’s.

Who

You need to understand who you are and what your body is capable of accomplishing. Some people have certain medical conditions that prevent them from consuming certain foods or exercising in certain ways. Before beginning any diet program, consult with your primary health provider to ensure you are able to begin something that otherwise may be worse for your health. Also understand who you have for support. Are you doing this alone? Do you have family and/or close friend support? Many weight-loss programs fail because there is a lack of encouragement from close friends and family. If you find that you do not have a support system already, ensure the program you start, can help you with that encouragement.

What

What are your goals? Are you simply trying to lose weight for a short period of time to fit in certain cloths for a special event? Perhaps you have certain health issues that are preventing you from doing the activities you want to, or have done in your past. Also, what does the diet program entail. We do not encourage pill-popping as a quick-way to lose weight. Though there have been promising pills in the past, usually they are expensive, and do not really teach the habits of health you need to maintain a long-term healthy body.

Where

Where are you going to lose weight? Are you focusing on a certain area of your body? Certain dietary intake may help slim down some parts of your body while increasing other parts. Can you effectively implement the healthy lifestyle wherever you are? Do you need to be in a gym 24/7, or running outside all the time? Although there are benefits to being a gym-rat, a good and healthy lifestyle should not require a high-dedication to extreme exercise.

When

When should you begin the lifestyle change? When should the diet-program end? Do they teach you habits and coping skills to deal with everyday life, no matter the circumstance? A program that only relies on your once a week meetings/appointments (i.e. hypnosis, chiropractic, etc.), probably doesn’t help you develop long-term successful skills in losing weight and maintaining a healthy body.

Why

Why do you want/need to lose weight? Understanding the why can often lead to a better longer-term commitment. Also, understanding unhealthy habits and how you can combat bad cravings with other choices is one of the keys to a successful weightless program. You don’t necessarily need to stop eating junk food, but you need to be mindful of why you are eating it and how much you are consuming.

Form Good Habits

As you develop good habits centered around healthy eating and a more-active lifestyle, you will see a positive change in your life.
